About Forever Since Heedfest

The inaugural Forever Since Heedfest took place on February 10, 2024 in Somerville, MA. The four-hour live music event brought Guided By Voices tribute bands from Boston, Pittsburgh and southern New Jersey and drew local fans as well as travelers from New York, California and Seattle. Named after the band's 1986 debut EP Forever Since Breakfast, the event took place at the halfway mark between annual Heedfests, a fan-driven gathering to celebrate Guided By Voices in its home city of Dayton, OH.

Headliners Guided By Choices, the project of Boston-area artist Garret Vandermolen (Speedfossil), features Magnetic Fields touring band member Anthony Kaczynski on lead vocals.

Pittsburgh, PA-based Cul de Sac Kids are known for deep cut selections in their setlists.

Gloucester project Blatant Doom Trip evoked vibes from Alien Lanes-era GBV, with frontman Tony Bogdanowicz's striped suit and blazer to his distanced wannabe British affect making me long for King and Caroline in the set.

Starting the night off, Gibbsboro, NJ (the sister city to Dayton, OH?)'s Teenage FBI warmed up the room with a set spanning old classics through the new, including an extended sludgy reimagination of the new cult classic Razor Bug.

The 2025 event took place on February 15 in Carrboro, North Carolina and featured Nashville-based Dumbcharger, Philadelphia-area project Bright Paper Werewolves, Boston's Guided By Choices, and Pittsburgh's Cul de Sac Kids. Numbered gig poster designed by local artist Brian Walsby available here.
